Greenville, South Carolina – November 26, 2012 eRAD, a division of RadNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: RDNT), announced today that Valley Medical Group (VMG), an independent, multi-specialty group practice in Western Massachusetts, has contracted to install eRAD’s Web-based PACS and speech recognition solution. Originally formed by the merger of Amherst Medical Associates and Pioneer Family Physicians, VMG was formerly part of Kaiser Permanente until becoming an independent, multi-specialty medical group in January of 2000. VMG has four Health Centers across Western Massachusetts, each offering a full range of services under one roof, including one location that is a fully credentialed Ambulatory Surgical Center.
Before selecting eRAD, VMG was using a legacy system to manage its medical imaging workflow, a system that struggled to meet its challenging workflow requirements. In addition, VMG has been a longtime user of Athena Health’s (NASDAQ:ATHN) cloud-based practice management and electronic medical records software and was looking to tightly integrate the workflow of both systems. “We had quite a list of criteria for our next system, and in our evaluation eRAD stood out as one of the few able to satisfy our needs,” said Martha Mastroberti, Manager, Healthcare Informatics at VMG. Mastroberti added, “One of the biggest factors was that eRAD had previous interface experience with Athena, and they had the dictation, transcription and speech recognition built right into the PACS viewing software— so we didn’t have to purchase a third-party system and go to the trouble of integrating and supporting it.”
“eRAD PACS has been a good fit for multi-specialty medical groups who offer imaging services because of the integrated report creation tools,” commented Seth Koeppel, eRAD SVP of Sales. “These are traditionally the domain of RIS systems, and medical groups don’t really need a full-blown RIS because the PM/EMR systems usually meet most of their needs. With four offices, having both the viewing and reporting software Web-based was a strong benefit to VMG.”
