SOLUTIONS
eRAD PACS
Scalable, web-based enterprise solution for radiology imaging workflow.
With full support for distributed environments requiring global worklist access, eRAD PACS is the foundation for your radiology imaging workflow.
More than just a PACS, eRAD is a comprehensive workflow solution that addresses the challenges of today’s distributed reading environments. Since 1999, radiology groups and Teleradiology service providers have relied on eRAD for its flexibility and configurability—for the innovative way it quickly moves images to the radiologist instead of the radiologist to the images.
Evolving from one of the early web-based PACS for remote reading, eRAD now offers a complete suite of tools to support the business of acquiring, reading, and reporting from anywhere.
Access and manage any study—the heart of your practice workflow—with eRAD’s scalable, web-based, enterprise PACS solution. Multiple acquisition and reporting sites can distribute, share and archive data securely, using worklists and multi-modality protocols that are tailored to each.
Users can navigate studies from a single worklist, customized to the role and preferences of each. Get faster report turnarounds thanks to pre-fetching, load balancing and embedded dictation. Data integrity is not only preserved but improved, even across multiple PACS systems, so that clinicians can be confident in the data, and they can be accurate and productive.
Under the PACS System Hood
eRAD PACS uses native Web-enabled, Linux-driven servers in a distributed architecture, which provides continuity of service during connectivity outages. It provides LDAP support for centralized user account management, as well as a programmable interface for third-party system integration.
Customizable web page templates and style sheets provide added flexibility. Data is protected by secure access and SSL encryption. Support for server virtualization maximizes resources.
These technology features automate your workflow and drive the power and flexibility of eRAD PACS:
- Highly configurable PACS radiology worklists/workflows, including color schemes.
- Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) for read/write to third-party digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) archives. eRAD can be used as a workflow engine accessing a legacy DICOM archive or to store images using eRAD’s archive.
- eRAD PACS systems are HIPAA compliant and allow for role-based controls for multi-user access.
- Automated actions based on user-defined rules. This includes making studies visible on designated worklists, pre-caching studies to a specific workstation, sending notifications to users, printing and faxing reports and other options.
- Embedded dictation, transcription and speech understanding for seamless PACS-driven workflow. No radiology information system (RIS) or separate third-party system is necessary.
- Native document scanning and document uploading (PDF/JPEG) directly into the eRAD PACS system.
- Key images and annotations are stored together as part of the medical report. They are available online for secure customer access via browser-enabled devices.
- Integrated management tools for data coercion provides users with the ability to manipulate DICOM information when acquired by the server for normalization or correction of data.
- Critical reporting management tools, such as auto print, fax and email notifications, can be triggered by changes in study status.
- Templated web pages for more granular access to study information. This means that certain fields can be hidden, rather than the whole page.
- A fast, centralized view of all patient information in the Patient Folder.
- The ability to create orders upon receipt of inbound studies and post to a centralized global worklist.
- Integration of third-party speech systems for seamless PACS-driven workflow.
- HL7 interface with multiple disparate HIS, RIS, PM and EMR systems.
- Customized user accounts with role-based permissions.
- Clinical trials management and peer review tools, which includes study anonymization/sanitization features for de-identification, amongst others.
- A web-based, programmable API interface that provides access to reports and images from EMRs (image-enabling the EMR).
- Management reporting that allows filtered worklists to be exported to Microsoft Excel without requiring a RIS.
- Support for languages in addition to English.
- International language support.
- Support for the import of DICOM media.
- Access to forgotten password via credential-checked email.
- Database optimization for large volumes of data.

“We have been delighted with the eRAD PACS since it was installed in early 2008. Now we have implemented eRAD’s Integrated Scheduling Module to streamline our workflow across multiple facilities. This is a giant step toward our goal of becoming both filmless and paperless.”
“Most radiology groups who cover multiple locations know what a nightmare the workflow can be. We had to use multiple worklists, multiple PACS systems, multiple dictation systems, even multiple microphones! You need extremely sophisticated data coercion and DICOM mapping tools to harmonize diverse data, retrieve the right prior images, and present this information to a busy radiologist. eRAD has the highly granular sophistication needed to perform all this, yet hides all this sophistication behind a simple interface for the radiologist. We now have the fluid solution that allows us to expand our business smoothly.”
“When we decided to begin offering imaging services, we knew this endeavor was far more complex than simply acquiring imaging devices and vans. We chose eRAD PACS because it can be deployed in a mobile environment without compromising quality or efficiency. With eRAD PACS, we can have our studies on the radiologist’s workstation within minutes of acquisition. This allows us to stay one step ahead of the competition by providing timely reports to our clients.”
“We believe that radiology service is best when referring physicians and clinical staff have prompt and easy access to reports. eRAD’s web-based system enables our radiology group to read, report 24×7, while making results available to referring physicians easily and quickly.”
“Having a need to replace our current system, we evaluated several RIS/PACS available. We were focused on finding a system that was integrated, web-based, streamlined workflow, and extremely user friendly in order to increase efficiency and productivity. In addition, we wanted to provide remote viewing capabilities to our referring physicians in order for them to have immediate access to patient images and reports. We selected eRAD based on the comprehensive nature of their product. Our system has been well received by our referring physicians and it has made a direct impact in our referral patterns. In these tough economic times, this has been a valuable tool in enhancing our business.”
