Meet Stephen “Stick” Powell:
Technical Product Manager, eRAD RIS
Based in Prince Edward Island, Canada
What’s it like to work at eRAD?
Describe your role in the company.
I’m part of a team responsible for gathering requirements from the customer and ultimately ensuring they are delivered in the product. We gather requirements, document them, and assign them to a development queue. We then work with R&D as each feature is coded. We help document the software, train our internal support teams, and finally release the commercialized software. It’s entirely a team effort.
How long have you been at this?
I’ve been in IT for 26 years and have been a RIS developer for 18 of those years. I’ve worked with eRAD for nine years.
What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in that period?
It would have to be Artificial Intelligence (AI). Having the ability to pre-determine what an outcome might be, based on trends in the previous data—that’s a game-changer. It will have a very significant impact on the market in the next five to ten years.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love interacting and getting feedback from current and potential customers. I am sometimes asked to support our sales team by participating in deeper technical demos. When I show a new feature in person, I get to see and hear the customers’ reactions first-hand. This gives me a sense of whether our product is on the right track. There is no substitute for this face-to-face interaction as we improve our product.
