Fully cloud-based solution enables strong focus on business goals.

Greenville, S.C., November 24th, 2015 – eRAD announced today that Midwest Imaging Professionals, LLC (MIP), based in Oak Brook, Ill., has successfully deployed eRAD’s uniRAD solution with integrated Speech Recognition. The platform enables MIP to achieve a consolidated, cloud-based imaging workflow across several sites for which it provides professional radiology reading and interpretation services.

eRAD, a division of RadNet, Inc., and a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, provided a combination of applications and services—including cloud-based hosting, a truly unified worklist, and Speech Recognition—to help Midwest Imaging Professionals realize its goals for future growth.

“In advance of launching our own internal nighthawk coverage solution, we had to contend with how to connect three hospitals with disparate PACS, while at the same time identifying a cost-effective platform for the multiple outpatient centers that we read for during the day,” said Scott Seberg, CEO of MIP. “It became clear that eRAD’s cloud technology allows us to focus on quality and timely interpretations with virtually no IT infrastructure or in-house support staff. Throughout the process, each step of the way, eRAD was responsive to our needs and timelines.”

“Working with Midwest Imaging Professionals from inception through go-live is proof once again that eRAD’s cloud-based service offering is an ideal and affordable way for radiology groups to enter the distributed reading/teleradiology service provider market,” said Seth Koeppel, Senior VP of Sales at eRAD.

“For our clinical needs—particularly the after-hours coverage—the ability to provide our hospital EDs with fast turn-around times without any sacrifice to report and image quality is critical. We are able to deliver that coverage because eRAD technology enables us to work from a federated worklist, with access to images and priors from our contracted hospitals and outpatient facilities,” explained Seberg. MIP securely acquires images from the transmitting sites via VPN and can essentially read and report from anywhere, while providing report access to hospital, medical, or technical staff when needed.

eRAD’s Speech Recognition also streamlines MIP’s workflow. “Because we render final reports in eRAD during both the day and night, many of our radiologists have established pre-set templates for their reports, which makes the process of self-editing that much easier and faster,” said Seberg.

Using eRAD’s cloud solution, Midwest Imaging Professionals is able to avoid significant upfront capital costs and complex technology hurdles. By taking advantage of eRAD’s investment in workflow tools and infrastructure, MIP is released from the burden of maintaining and upgrading software and hardware on a consistent basis, thereby improving the overall bottom line of the practice.

“eRAD continues to prove a solid image exchange backbone for facilities and radiologists across the world,” said Koeppel. “Our technology is meeting a real need, and we’re pleased to be able to partner with groups like Midwest Imaging Professionals and enable them to serve their clients effectively.”
