Significantly faster report signing.

Greenville, S.C., November 28, 2014 – eRAD, a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: RDNT), a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, announced today that Reno Diagnostic Centers (RDC) has implemented eRAD RIS (radiology information systems) to manage front office and radiologist workflow and RADAR for clinical communication, including patient appointment reminders.

With two locations in Reno, Nev., and four radiologists performing up to 300 reads per day, RDC’s top priority is streamlining the workflow so that clinicians can focus on patient care. “Our entire focus at this organization is efficiency, and eRAD delivered efficiency gains across every section of the operation,” said Ronald Milbank, Operations Director of RDC.

“Batch scanning—that gave our front desk a 70% productivity increase over the previous method,” Milbank added. “The speed at which reports are signed—we are seeing a 400% improvement. We all know that the radiologist’s time is very expensive, so having the next report pop up quickly is significant. The RIS is easy to use and fast.”

Metrics play a key role in RDC’s productivity and in its business strategy, and eRAD RIS allows management to track performance in real-time. “We’re a company that believes in making decisions on accurate, real-time data rather than historical, and we are excited about the implementation of the dashboard functionality,” Milbank said. “Reports run in one to four seconds, plus we can schedule reports to run at a particular time of day and have them delivered directly to us, rather than going into the system and running them. The ability to drill down from a summary to detail level in a wide array of reports enables us to see things quickly when needed and have a manageable slice of information on demand. When you understand that time savings of a quarter of a second result in operational efficiencies equating to tens of thousands of dollars annually, as we do, you need the RIS to be highly responsive.”

eRAD supports fast turnaround times since RDC radiologists dictate directly into the RIS using embedded speech recognition. Work across multiple sites is no obstacle: cloud-stored profiles roam with the radiologists, so any user-defined changes auto-populate on any workstation or device. “The speech engine is accurate, with a high rate of recognition,” said Milbank. “The biggest value is the cloud-based profile. They move between locations or work from home, and they get the same level of accuracy at any location. No more copying profiles between computers.”

RDC is launching RADAR to send automated appointment reminders to its patients, with a plan to expand usage of the tool to notify referring physicians of clinically significant findings. RADAR creates different types of alerts directly from within the existing workflow, as text, phone, or email messages. RDC’s front office staff is relieved of manual calls, particularly useful with multi-site scheduling.

eRAD matched the performance of its technology with strong service. Milbank said: “Best implementation software team I’ve worked with in this industry—hands down. eRAD is the best not only from the level of service provided but from a technical and workflow competency level. It’s good to talk to a team that understands our specific challenges at a detailed level and can respond very quickly.”
