Complete cloud-based technology suite to streamline operations

Greenville, S.C., November 22, 2016 –eRAD announced today that it has successfully deployed its imaging workflow solutions, including RIS, PACS and Speech Recognition, at Open MRI of Connecticut.

eRAD will shortly follow that successful implementation with a go-live on its Mammography Tracking module, which will enable Open MRI to automate breast health follow-up, and its Mammography Module, which will eliminate the need for the practice to have a dedicated workstation for reading mammography exams. Open MRI will also deploy eRAD’s Physician Portal, enabling referring physicians to have 24/7 access to reports and patient information. The solution suite will be hosted on eRAD’s cloud so the practice can easily scale without infrastructure concerns.

eRAD is a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc., and a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions. With four MRI/CT centers in central Connecticut, Open MRI has been a staple of the area’s medical community for more than 40 years.

“Our goal is to provide a more meaningful experience for our patients and quicker diagnostic results to the referring physicians,” said Jim Brower, Senior Vice President of Open MRI. “This year we took on several initiatives in service of that goal. First was to re-evaluate our technology and workflow across the front office, the radiologist and IT departments. The second was to assess mammography in our centers.”

The practice recognized the benefits inherent in a single platform. “In the past, we contracted with several different companies and cobbled the systems together with complicated interfaces,” Brower said. “With eRAD’s cloud solution, we are able to view everything in one system. The seamless flow of data alone is a major gain in productivity.”

Implementation was smooth and on schedule, with two phases of significant data migration—first from legacy RIS and PACS, and second the mammography migration from a different PACS. All data will be archived in the eRAD cloud so that referring physicians can access it via the easy-to-use eRAD Physician Portal, which only requires a simple internet connection for anywhere access.

“The Physician Portal provides immediate access to patients’ images, and the Speech Recognition fax solution enables us to have reports to the referring physicians often within one hour,” said Brower.

“We are really pleased to have Open MRI of Connecticut join the eRAD team,” said Seth Koeppel, Senior Vice President of Sales at eRAD. “The experience of their medical imaging operations team was evident. They made sure that all the business and clinical needs of the practice would be met and decided as a very informed buyer. They are an important outpatient enterprise in the central Connecticut community, and we look forward to a long relationship.”
