Large multi-specialty group streamlines workflow.

Greenville, SC., November 6, 2014 – The Jackson Clinic, a large, renowned private practice in Jackson, Tenn., is switching to the eRAD platform to achieve substantial productivity gains.

eRAD, a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: RDNT), a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, delivered its RIS (radiology information system), PACS (picture archive communication system), Integrated Speech Recognition, and Mammography Module to the Clinic as part of a forward-thinking strategy for streamlining operations.

One of the largest group practices of its kind, with 140 physicians and over 25 specialties and sub-specialties, The Jackson Clinic was the first multi-specialty group practice in Tennessee. eRAD’s radiology-centric workflow was a driving factor in their decision. “We wanted it to be very user-friendly for radiologists,” said Libby Faulkner, Radiology Manager at The Jackson Clinic. “Our aim was to simplify the workflow for radiologists and techs—to make it easier for both.” The eRAD RIS was built to cater to radiologists, with very tight integration with the PACS, allowing clinicians to work seamlessly.

Speech Recognition is tightly integrated into the RIS, which brings significant efficiency and faster results—the speech platform is embedded within the RIS, without the need for an interface to a third-party, external system.

Initially searching only for a RIS, The Jackson Clinic saw greater opportunity after seeing other eRAD technology in action. “We made a site visit to see the RIS, and also saw the integrated PACS at that time. Seeing the system in operation—plus the cost compared to what we were paying before for service alone—that justified a new PACS,” said Faulkner. “So much duplication will be alleviated for us.” The tighter integration with their EMR will promote clinical effectiveness and the overall quality of care.

Priors pull automatically, mammograms can be read on a single workstation, patient insurance is pre-verified, radiologists can use auto-loaded macros and voice navigation for dictation—tasks like these required manual work-arounds or multiple clicks and logins before. “Now our radiologists can work in one system. It will all be automated and speed things up,” Faulkner said. “It’s lots of saved time.” With a 58,000 per year (and growing) study volume, The Jackson Clinic will benefit directly from those gains in efficiency.

Seth Koeppel, eRAD’s Senior VP of Sales, said: “eRAD is thrilled to have been chosen by The Jackson Clinic to provide its full suite of RIS/PACS/Speech Recognition. Large multi-specialty groups like Jackson have always been a good fit for eRAD’s web-based technology. eRAD’s ability to seamlessly integrate to Electronic Medical Records, which don’t typically support DICOM images, makes our web-based, multi-disciplinary DICOM viewer and browser-based/HTML5 web viewer options very useful. Jackson will also achieve tremendous workflow efficiencies by not having to use several disparate systems previously required to read and report cases. eRAD’s complete workflow and viewing platform brings this all together in one integrated system that all stakeholders can use.”
